Jinjuu Mayfair 39 Albemarle Street, Mayfair, London W1S 4JQ 020 3889 0780 on Albemarle Street, Jinjuu Mayfair offers traditional and contemporary Korean street food in an upscale but unfussy environment.
You can also find bibimbap, Korea’s national dish, served in a traditional stone bowl, with multigrain rice and seasonal vegetables served with gochujang sauce on the side.
There are also deep-fried lobster prawn sae-woo pops and larger plates such as spiced seared Atlantic tuna steak, fresh cucumber, shallots, chives, Korean mustard vinaigrette, perilla leaves and crispy lotus root meal at Jinjuu Mayfair.
Bibmbap with added kimchi (Korean cabbage) – it was a stunning traditional Korean stir fry with an egg on top served with a bbq-chilli sauce.

food desserts
It’s hard to find fault in Jinjuu Mayfair’s Korean Fried Chicken.
It’s succulent, delicious and perfectly spiced: if the Korean Fried Chicken was all that Jinjuu offered, we’d probably come back at least twice a month.
Kimchi Fried Rice goes the other way, overcomplicating things with egg and far too much oil, to the point where it ends up as less than the sum of its parts.
Leave off the odd, overtly salty seaweed shortbread it came with and it would be a winner.
What it needs is to get that little bit meaner with things that simply don’t work, that little bit leaner with the selection on offer, that little bit more precise with flavour pairings.

Mayfair’s new Korean fusion restaurant Jinjuu gets so much right – perfect service with no vulgar upselling; a sophisticated leather, dark wood and gold aesthetic; super-soft lighting – that its niggling flaws are all the more disappointing.
One winner is the tuna tartare – light, fresh, with perfect wasabi heat and lotus root crisps.
A broccoli and mushroom salad might not sound very exciting, but it was robust and satisfying with great spice levels.
Still, Jinjuu is a great little spot for stellar cocktails and pre-dinner nibbles.
